Passkeys

Q1: What are passkeys?

Passkeys are an easier and more secure alternative to passwords. Once you create a passkey, you can use it for logging into Cobo Accounts through fingerprint, face scan, or screen lock (PIN code).

Q2: Why should I use passkeys?

Passkeys provide an additional layer of security, effectively protecting against a range of threats, notably phishing attacks. Moreover, passkeys serve as a login option that allows you to skip MFA verification if it is enabled. This convenience stems from the fact that MFA verification aims to confirm your ownership of the specific device, aligning with the authentication purpose of passkeys.

Q3: What are the conditions for creating passkeys?

You can create passkeys on the following devices:

  • Laptops or desktops running Windows 10, macOS Ventura, ChromeOS 109, or later versions.

  • Mobile devices running iOS 16, Android 9, or later versions.

  • Physical security keys that support the FIDO2 protocol.

Additionally, your device must have the following supported browsers:

  • Chrome 109 or later.

  • Safari 16 or later.

  • Edge 109 or later.

To use passkeys, your device must also have the following features enabled:

  • Screen lock.

  • Bluetooth.

Q4: How to log into Cobo Accounts on a new computer using my mobile device passkeys?

To log in, follow the on-screen instructions and scan the provided QR code using the mobile device where you have already added passkeys. Please avoid using incognito mode, as it may cause difficulties when using passkeys in such scenarios.

Q5: How to add passkeys?

To add a passkey, proceed to Cobo Accounts via Custody or Argus, or directly visit https://accounts.cobo.com/. Click on 'Create'.

Click on 'Create passkey'.
